INITIAL SUBMISSION (WEEK 12)

FINAL REVISED SUBMISSION (WEEK 15)

Feedback

Week 9

Dr. Hayati was on medical leave, thus no class was conducted.

Week 10

Specific Feedback : Be more descriptive about your linear scale questions,

is it highly or least etc. so that your respondents know how to use your scale

to answer. Need to implement some psychological theories from the past

researchers when you have your variables (mouth, eye, eye brow).

General Feedback : Minimum respondents is 80 for quantitative research.

Week 11

Public Holiday 4th of November. (Deepavali Day), no class was conducted.

Telegram Consultation (4/11)

Specific Feedback : Always correlate back again with your Research Questions

and Research Objectives, whether your instruments have covered all you aim to

achieve. Add numbering to the questions to ease the navigation of the participants

and for your own analysis - finding identification. Make sure the variables used in

the questions of your survey are appropriate descriptions used based on previous

studies / theories.

Week 12

Specific Feedback : Can try Telegram groups to get more respondents. Try to

aim for more respondents than the bare minimum 80. 100 to 120 would be great.

For the qualitative email interview, you can remind me to get contacts with

character designers/animators and hope they will respond, as this can enhance

your findings as well as dissertation in the future.

General Feedback : Dateline this Sunday 14/11, final reflection of all assignments

dateline on 2/12.

Reflection

Week 8 (ILW)

Reflection: Since no class was conducted, I depended on lecture notes and recordings

to help me understand the task.

Observation: I have observed that by reading and reviewing the articles in the previous

task, it helps me be more confident when choosing and crafting my own methodology for

primary research.

Findings: I realised that a mixed methodology is more well-balanced in finding the

information you need in a research after identifying the pros and cons.

Week 9

Reflection: I have posted my first draft on google drive as there was no class conducted as

Dr. Hayati is on medical leave.

Observation: No observations this week.

Findings: I find that by understanding the methodologies utilised by previous researchers

in my critical reviews, I am able to craft my survey questions better.

Week 10

Reflection: I edited my primary research proposal according to the guideline given by

Dr. Hayati via telegram. In class, I  have received feedback from Dr. Hayati regarding my

primary research proposal and questions. I need to have my own critiques about the chosen

animated film if I want to call my research a case study.

Observation: I observed that every question or answers that we design must have a purpose

in it and not just by coincidence. We must be able to justify everything that we do.

Findings: I realised that building a good survey is hard, as you need to design it to answer

all the research objectives and questions that you created during the first task : research proposal.

Week 11

Reflection: I have started crafting the survey on google form, and also consulted Dr Hayati on

Telegram for amendments and made amendments accordingly. I need to make sure that my

numbering in the survey is clear for the participants to understand clearly the questions linking

to each other.

Observation: I observed that the more user-friendly your survey is designed, the more likely

we could get participants to get involved proactively. I am happy that some participants

reflected to me that my survey is nice, and they had fun answering the questions.

Findings: I realised that it is not so easy to get participants on reddit, in my experience, as

people do not have merit for doing the survey, so are less likely to participate. I have to expand

my ways to search for more participants, through social media platforms : Instagram, Facebook,

Whatsapp.

Week 12

Reflection: I have continued to gain more survey participants for my quantitative research and fortunately reached 103 respondents. Then, I completed my primary research and analysis by Sunday. To my surprise, I got an email reply from one of the animation specialists that I reached out to for my qualitative research at night on Sunday. Hence, I have sent the specialist the questions to the interview, and now I am waiting for her insights.

Observation: I observed that the analysis provided by the sample works Dr Hayati sent us through Google Classroom is very comprehensive, and this gave me a good understanding of how an analysis should be done.

Findings: I realised that analysis can take a much longer time and energy than I have expected as I was waiting for more respondents to come in before I start to analyse them, but I ended up having not enough time for analysis and struggled to meet the dateline.
