Assignment 1 - Ideation

Sonic design project 1 ideas (no dialogues)


  1. Baking at Home After Work.

First Idea - Baking at Home After Work


First Ideation consultation :
After looking at my ideation, Mr Razif commented that the sequence of task seems ok, but also think about the atmosphere sound, for instance, what's happening around her.

Whats happening around her?

- a pet cat walking around and meowing

- aircond sound.

- maybe a fireplace?

- faint clock tick tocking

- phone notification sound


Second Idea - Home Invasion (chosen)



I found a youtube tutorial on the basics of mulitrack session in adobe audition that teaches how to manage multitracks and also cut tracks.

I found myself using mostly audio panning, cutting and some simple editing of parametric equaliser, and abit of pitch shift. Syncing the timing to make the scene sound more realistic is the hardest part, and deciding which direction to pan to according to the surrounding sounds and happenings, the intruder is quite the challenge.


WEEK 7 Final Submission - Auditory Imaging (mp3)

Reflection : It was quite hard, as only using sounds to tell a story was a challenge to my idea, which is home invasion because it requires very strong visual imagination. The hardest part is definitely the portion when the main character (girl) ran to hide in the nearby room, I was having trouble to make her running and the intruder's chasing footstep to sound distinct from one another. Nevertheless Im glad I managed to complete this assignment, I hope that I'll be able to improve with the coming assignments.

I reached the office at 9am, and was briefed about the company's general knowledge and details by the HR, Swen. After that, Swen introduced me to my supervisor, Grace and we had an online meeting about my first task on Lark app. First day was very overwhelming as there is alot of information for me to digest.
